| Read the manual before installation and operation of pump or related equipment with special regards to prescribed maintenance. |

| Check all piping and connections prior to operating pump. |
|
|
|
| Check shaft for proper rotation so relief valve is positioned correctly. (If applicable). |
|
|
|
| Close suction and discharge valves before servicing unit. |
|
|
|
| Lock out all power to the pump prior to working on it. |
|
|
|
| Check all valves to be sure pressure is relieved from piping at your work point before servicing pump. |
|
|
|
| Keep hands away from ports or rotating components when pump is running. |
|
|
|
| Inspect for shipping damage prior to installation. |
|
|
|
| If overheated or handling hot liquids, allow pump to cool completely (to ambient temp.) prior to servicing. |
|
|
|
| Read all tags, details and markings on pump prior to operation. |
|
|
|
| Make sure pointed end of relief valve is towards suction of pump. (If applicable). |
|
|
|
| Support all suction and discharge piping to relief strain on pump. |
|
|
|
| Install suction and discharge gauges on pump to monitor operation. |
|
|
|
| Use caution when servicing pumps – idler gear, rotor and impeller have sharp edges. |
|
|
|
| Replace all gaskets and “O-Rings” when servicing. |
|
|
|
| Check that suction/delivery lines are free of debris/dirt/solids etc. |
|
|
|
| Check that sump is clean and contains no sand/stone construction material. |
|
|
|
| Check that lines feeding sump have been flushed prior to installation and start up. |
